The kids are back to school today, although as a working mother this really isn't a big deal for me. However, it is fun to get them outta bed earlier than they have been used to!
This morning I also decided to gather up a few videos to take in to the photo shop and have them put onto DVD. The trouble is I have a video marked (Scowly Teen) 1 , with no sign of 2. I can't recall if I even HAD a second video for her...I found our wedding video too, plus a video made up of old Super 8 film shot by my father of our adventures on the Chatham Islands when we lived there in the mid 60s/early 70s, plus footage of Mum and Dad's wedding in the early 50s - all of which I am keen to see again, and to make the kids watch again as well.
I think it is really important to try and preserve family history, I admire those families who have clear records going back centuries! The Stud has a family tree going back to Italy in 1700s - great reading.
Aren't these old tiles lovely? They are surrounding an old shop near my work, the Council did a good job of preserving them and others around the city, one of the few things this council is any good at (altho' having said that, the same council tore down an old building from 1880s - selective historic salvation.)
While I'm down memory lane, does anyone else recall when the TV used to finish transmitting at mid-night? Here in NZ they used to play the clip below, and then you knew it was time to turn off the TV for the night. Very cute. Sigh,. when did life get so complicated??
