Happy New year folks! And let's hope it is eh?
Todays post comes to you from the sweltering cesspot known as Brisbane. It is 36 degrees today, slightly down from 33 yesterday but to be honest it's hard to tell. It is almost like that old argument of how you can tell Vegemite from Marmite (I know, it is that argument that has kept some family meals in chaos for years!!)...the kids have hardly moved from the pool. I have just hardly moved. I feel like I'm getting so fat I'll be from both sides of the family by the time this holiday is over!
We're also popping down to Sydney next week and we hope it will be cooler there. By then I hope to have found the cord-thingy-whatsit to download some pix for you.
Meanwhile, a cool glass of cider is shrieking at me...I can just hear it thru the gushing perspiration coursing past my ears....

still 2008, here. drinking HOT cider it is -19C.
Enjoy Sydney.
I'll swap you our frost covered lawn for half an hour by your sun baked pool... Happy New Year to you all!
My word, a little of your warmth would go down well here - it's minus 4 on the centigrade thermometer!
We've got tons of snow and freezing temperatures. Want some?
Hi there all, honestly I find myself standing by the fridge door A LOT at the moment.
Violet - ooh, hot cider is nice too tho'...I have a few nice recipes for it back home. I'll share them in winter.
Steve - ok then as long as I can make the first foot prints across the lawn...
CanBass1 - welcome! Minus 4? Oh dear. I'll enjoy the heat on your behalf.
Mike - gee, can I phone a friend on that one? :-)
Oooooo! Its FREEZING here....the frost hasn't melted all day....
You sound like you are having a wonderful time!
OMG you had me laughing at the perspiration gushing past your ears!! I get that too!
I see some of the weather up there will have been even gushier, since it has rained...
Justme - poor you! All that cold and stuff...I am having a good time but the constant need to visit shoe shops is annoying my husband!
Meggie- yeah, it rained for Africa!! Thankfully it also cooled the place somewhat and today has been better temperature-wise. We're going down to Sydney later in the week so I expect it will be cooler down there.
36 degrees !!!!!!!!!!
I'll always be a Marmite man....
Hi Villager...yes, it is so hot your Marmite would resemble oozing tar!
Happy New Year! I can't wait to get to summer - only 4 weeks to go.
We are having a proper winter here this year - and whilst it is cold it is so much nicer than the usual grey miserable ones we have. Everything is sparkling in the sunshine.
I am off the booze for one month - my poor liver needs a rest!
Shame you weren't in Australia whilst I am (can't get the tenses right in that sentence). I plan to get over to Sydney so we could have got all synchronised and met up.
RB - Happy New Year to you and yours too! Oh it would have been great to have met up!! We're off to Sydney in the morning (at 5.30am erk!!) and am looking forward to it. Maybe we'll get the timing right next time? Believe it or not, it's too hot for me to have much red wine and have been having mostly cider which I am sure is better to my liver, right? Please? :-)
Poor you!
I am frost-bathing in a balmy -7 Centigrade in Blighty.
