This time 14 years ago...

I had just had a baby girl. My first. She was perfect.

This morning I woke up and with shock realised that it was 14 years ago. 14. years. Where did the time go? What have I done with those years - nothing that I can really talk about and certainly nothing that I have won awards for.
However, she is doing well at school. She is mostly nice to her little sister. She is an accomplished ice-skater and has really nice school friends. And there are no spotty boys in sight.

I have a lot to be thankful for! Especially since I know what I was like at 14.....

Happy birthday to the teen.
I'm sure you haven't aged a bit in all this time, have you?

Happy birthday to her. And well done you; two 'seven year itch' cycles later and still happy, solvent and grounded. That's worth celebrating too!

I guess there's nothing more important than having kids ! Particularly nice ones.

Yeah it goes so quickly doesn't it. My daughter is 20! How can it happen. And yet that morning after the birth - I remember this really strange guy called Seamus who I barely knew coming to visit me (well, us) - is as vivid as if it were yesterday.

Happy birthday to your lovely daughter and to you too - it was you who did all the hard work after all.

BT - thank you sir, not too sure about "solvent" but we're not on the street yet! Thank goodness for spilling ine on the carpet all those years ago, we can still manage to slurp some from there if we get desperate.

The Villager - I agree. I like to be positive about these things, so many of our friends say "OOH, you're in for a rough ride now...", well, its life so thats what to expect but I figure why be downbeat about it?!

RB - you know, one of the loneliest times of my life was about an hour after I had the baby and they dragged me away from the wee bundle (who was asleep in her sleeping Dad's arms)and took me away for a shower. It suddenly dawned on me that I was 'alone" for the first time in months. Odd.

Steve - thank you! I hope she turns out well too! I don't think I gacve my folks too much worry back then however I was away at boarding school so it may be that they just didn't find out what I was up to!! :-)

Happy birthday to your daughter.

It's hard watching them grow up, but it is also satisfying somehow.

We had three of them and they have all flown away now. Somedays I wish we could have more.

Mike - I can't imagine them not living with us. I know it will happen, but for now it seems like a "never never". Mind you, my husband might see things differently - he's outnumbered as even our cat and rabbits are female!
