Museum visit

After all these earthquakes it was a pleasure to visit our museum with Scowly the other week. The exhibits fared pretty well I gather and we are back to having visiting exhibits again. I took Scowly along to the World of Wearable Art exhibit. We have never been to the show, it is now held in Wellington so maybe this year the girls and I might get to see it in person instead of on late night TV...anyway, suffice to say there are some fantastically creative people out in the big wide world whose creations have graced the catwalks over the years.

If you go to the website you will see more of the costumes, at the museum they had signs telling us photographs weren't allowed - BUT I didn't see the signs until I had already taken quite a few pix...and also one of the photos I took a British tourist told me off for taking it. I admit I got a tad uppity at being told off by a visitor as to what I could and couldn't do in my own home town. However I'm sure he didn't notice my sarcasm. Much.

Anyway, I took a photo under the black light at one of the exhibits and then 'played' with it when I got home.

First, we have the original photo...

and then the played with version. I'm not too sure which one I like best but am leaning towards the one below. What say you?

I'm looking forward to getting to the WOW exhibition. I can see why you like your modified photo it certainly takes on a new dimension.
PS Just felt that latest 4.7 while I was in the shower - ooer.

I like visiting museums. I go all over the world to visit some. I liked a lot one called Muzeq na Vapcarov Bansko. I found it in Bulgaria, Eastern Europe.

The bottom one flattens each component but I like that - it gives them equal weight and makes the whole thing almost an abstract.

Agree, that the second picture is wonderful.

Please have you all a kind Friday.

That must be such a fun exhibit; I'm sure I'd love it, especially in your company while you pull yourself up to your full 5'2" to tell off the invading Brit! The nerve of some tourists knows no bounds. Good for you, putting her in her place, even whilst flagrantly engaging in the illicit activity she accused you of.

I explored the WOW site and it seems a most extraordinary spectacle! It must be amazing in person.
I like the second photo best, too. Somehow, it has more depth, nuance and mystery to it.

We Brits feel it's our duty to tell you colonials when your breaking the law.

Now you know how the Scots must feel. Silly me, most of you are!

Lady - I hate the 'shower shocks'...

PK - Hello and thanks for stopping by!

Steve - Exactly.

Robert - Thanks, cheers.

Louciao- You would LOVE the exhibit and the show! I have promised Scowly that if she gets through her exams this year I will take her to Wgtn for it! (And I'm actually 5' 3" harumph)

Marginalia - Och aye, that we wre. Including me...have ancestry I have traced back to Paisley, Dunbarton, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Sounds like a really interesting topic for an exhibition. I think I prefer the first version because I like colourful things.

It always annoys me when people tell me off, whoever they are, and however justified they are. I'm not very pleased about that, because sometimes they are correct, and so I try to remember to take what they say without offence. But still - what harm does taking photos do for heavens sake!!!
