Whistle Wetting Wednesday

Our nights are getting colder, to match our soggy mornings. These days I need something to warm the cockles of my heart (yes, I do have one)....it would be even better if I had a nice warm fireplace to nestle beside but (thanks Mother Nature) I don't. So, the heat pump and I have a date tonight, and I'll be drinking this....

Autumn Slumber Toddy

  • 2 oz gin
  • 1/2 oz creme de cassis
  • dash of simple syrup
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • hot water

Preparation:

  1. In an Irish coffee glass pour the liquors, syrup and lemon.
  2. Top with hot water.
  3. Stir.
Now then, once you've got your glass and you're in your onesie pj's, how about some music to slurp to?

Mr Eric looks a helluva lot like Paul Weller but then again it might be this drink... *hic*

Ok, now I'm curious, what is "Simple syrup" ? And is there a "complicated" syrup also ? Or is "simple" syrup simply one that couldn't finish grade school for syrups ???

Well, whatever, I'd like one of these drinks, the sooner the better ! And that will be by the fireplace, please...

Steve - Hm, could be the drink...try another and we'll have another look!

Owen - simple syrup is just water and sugar heated and cooled to make a syrup. Simple. OK, let's get Steve to budge up on that couch and we'll have a toe-tappin' time.....

Things always look less grim with gin. Any left? Gad, I'm arriving so late here I might just as well stick around till next Wednesday's Wet One to get first dibs on the drinks. If you don't mind sharing the heat pump, that is.
