Hot stuff

Like possibly the rest of the country at least, I have been gobsmacked by the fires in Australia. How ironic also that in another part of Australia they have flooding. The Australian's must be wondering what they did wrong to have such crap visited upon their golden shores.

Stories of horror and heroes abound, but I find I can't actually watch the news anymore. How lucky that I can turn my face away and for just a moment forget about it. If only those living through it had that luxury.

And imagine that some low-life pondscum has actually lit some of these fires on purpose. Go figure. Its hard to imagine that, letalone imagining what sort of "justice" could be delivered if they are ever caught. What would you do if it were up to you? And how these people that have suffered such tragic times ever rebuild their lives? I know tohers in unfortunate countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa also have tragedy as their bed fellows...how does anyoneget on with it?

We've been watching the news reports here an have been appalled that not only could someone start the fires in the first place but some scrote is actually restarting them too! So many dead... it's got to be life imprisonment. That's if he / she / they don't get lynched first.

Steve, isn't that incredible! Honestly, I don't know what sort of sick, twisted person could do such things. I wouldn't be a psychiatrist for all the tea in China.

I keep hoping that they must be wrong; that fires springing up simultaneously are an accident of drought, of sun on a broken bottle, of an ember carried in the wind or a spark from a hot exhaust. It is hard to credit such malicious behaviour.

BT - I agree with you. The photos all resemble a warzone don't they?!

I cry whenever I see the pictures of the devastation, or read more stories... even looking at the koala being fed water, which should be a cute photo, tears me up.

Violet - I know what you mean, ditto! (And the koala is even cuter now when you see her as she has a 'friend" and he puts his wee furry arm round her...very sweet!)

My girlfriend's brother moved to Australia recently, and he's kept us informed as to just how awful this disaster has been. Just terrible that someone actually did this maliciously.

The culprits (when caught) should be charged with mass murder, surely?

The bigger the sentence the more evil future fire starters will be discouraged.
