Life is sooooo odd.

Daisy chains and cartwheels
The summer sun
How good it feels
To lie on your back
At the top of the hill
And watch the clouds roll by

Am just back from this couples 60th wedding anniversary.
It is fantastic to report, they seem just as happy as now as they seem in this photo. This photo taken on 8 January 1949. 60myears. Jaysus Mary and Joseph. (well, they're catholic. I am sure I can be excused)...how fanbloodytastic. 60 years with the same person. Imagine.
Do you think Alfie and Chantelle will get this far?
Decided to add a Kiwi band, albeit YONKS after Marg and John said "I do".

60 years! What an achievement. I like the poem.

Me too and the photo is just brilliant. A picture can paint a thousand words indeed - a good 60 years of them. What jolly good fellows.

Congrats to the Happy Couple!
Love that wild riverbank.

BT - Thanks very much! Yep, they be my in-laws.

Steve - thanks to you too. I love that photo as well, and they were very happy to get a letter from ol' Betty Windsor on the day too.

Meggie - the riverbank would be up round Stratford way as thats where they got married. Little did they know that 60 years on they would be living it up in Tingoora!!

I wish.

My wife, Patty, and I have been married for 53 years and that will be 54 come July. The wedding vows were taken seriously back then or more so than today.

I appreciate your photograph and your writing. Nice post.

Wow - 60 years! I just cannot imagine. wonderful poem and photograph. They actually look rather old in the photo, don't they - but people did back then. I remember my grandmother showing me a photo of her at about 22 and I was sure she was 42!!!

Don't think I will ever celebrate a 60th anniversary. Well, maybe if i grab someone off the street today and manage to live to 102.

It must be lovely though to be able to share all your memories. I'm feeling all soppy and romantic now!

congrats to your inlaws.

RB - hello there! I won't get 60 years outta my husband either (have only clocked up 14 so far, and he's 10 years older than me....to get 60 might be a stretch!).

Those old photos are so evocative; and it's great that the happiness just goes on and on for sixty and more years !

Villager - I love old photos too, and these ones are all the more special as I know who they are!

Ooooh the sweet nostalgia of that Th'Dudes clip! They played a LUNCHTIME concert (how uncool!) at my college when I was 14 and hung around shamelessly after the gig to get their autographs. Ian Morris was my heart throb... sigh... I bet he fell madly in love with me that day too!

Antiopo - How fantastic, you must have had a better school than me!! I bet all Th' Dudes songs after that were REALLY about you...
