past the office buildings, round another conrer to this restaurant (which used to be a band rotunda), office workers can sit on the benches and relax.....
or take a punt along the river (if you squint you can see them, otherwise click to embiggen - sorry but that word makes me laugh like a school girl).....
and have your ice cream on a bench near Queen Victoria....
or over by one of the fountains. All this is within 5 minutes of my office, I am truly blessed don't you think. Come and lunch with me whenever you feel like it as there are plenty of cafes and lunch bars along the way and we can kick back and relax. Oh and if you would prefer a liquid lunch, we can accomodate that too!
If you look at the photo just above of the fountain, you will see that the seagulls also enjoy a park visit. We're not too far from the sea here and seagulls are everywhere, just like sparrows and starlings and over-zealous parking wardens.
Have a wonderful sunny day wherever you are, or feel free to share mine.

Hold on, I'll just get me coat...
Steve, a few more days like this and a coat will an optional extra!
I'm booking my flight now.
Now if you bring a flask with one of your tipples in it that would just set things off very nicely.
Love the first photo especially.
I think a picnic by the water would be just fine.
Getting my immigration papers sorted now.
Enjoyed seeing the punter embiggened!
Left you a message at my studio bar.
AWB - I can see we will be getting up a group, I'll bring a big flask!
Violet - There were actually heaps of people doing just that! Sometimes I take the kids there at weekends and feed the ducks!
Louciao - haha, you said "embiggened", let's hope 9 Hour Boy doesn't get to hear of that!....off over to yours to read my message!
Wow this is great. A little travel in a place that I don't know at all.
Great post, congratulations!
hello sag, i like that first shot especially. what a restful and relaxing area you work around . you must enjoy coming and going every day
xo
Adrian - its a great way to travel via blog isn't it! I'm loving your photos, have never been to that part of America either.
KJ - I drive along the river everyday just to get to work, so yes it is a real bonus. Even on grey days there is something therapeutic about water as in Rivers, the beach don't you think?
Why do you want to move on to my street? I'm coming to live near you!
And even though you say it has been winter since I started visiting your blog, your photos have looked much brighter than most days here and we're in the middle of summer!!!!
Hi Saj, looks good to me, a fine place to have an ice cream... but do they have Ben & Jerry's in NZ ??? Well if not, I guess a local brand vanilla will do, if smothered in Kahlua... Looks like a good peaceful place to get out of the office and unwind partway through the day... you can add me to the list of folks who will be needing a place to stay down your way in the near future... is there still any room left ? Even for a simple sod like me ???
:-D
What a lovely place to live. Thanks for sharing the photos.
Selina - hi ya! I confess that I try not to post 'grey' photos! Is that cheating??
Owen - glad that you managed to galumph youor way over here. Ice cream? Oh we have loads of that, Tip Top, Cadbury, Kiwi - you name it! However, I make a pretty good ice cream myself and there just MIGHT be grog in it....
Snowbrush - thanks, this time of year it is getting birghter and warmer which is also a plus!
Those pics make me so homesick! I remember one year the students cemented a toilet bowl on Victorias statue, so she could take her ease!
Then there was the Seagull Man, who used to wear a raincoat, & a hanky tied over his head, & sit feeding the birds, quite close to Vicky there. He was covered from head to foot in seagull droppings...he was a tourist attraction!
Meggie - I know of that guy, sadly he has died but the Council put up a plaque in his memory! I would have thought maybe a bronze statue with gulls would have been better!
Beats the business park I used to work in near Coventry hands down any day of the week - wow!
