I'm in a champagne mood today - just for something different! Usually it's a champagne mood with a beer budget, however I'm going to splash out today to honour you all (and to save your livers I will drink it for you too).
Ritz Fizz
dash amaretto
dash strained fresh lemon juice
dash blue curacao
chilled champagne (is there any other kind??)
Pour the amaretto, juice and blue curacao into serving glass and top with chilled champers. You can float a rose petal on the surface as decoration if you want - do not confuse rose petal with bicycle pedal.

The rose petal is a nice touch. Can you swap it for a couple of thorns for one's enemies?
hmmm, would that be a scented rose petal, or the unscented variety? (we seem to have an overabundence of unscented roses this year - even those of the scented variety. very sad it is).
either way, I prefer my champers unadulterated, but it's interesting to see the options...
But, what can you make for me? ...as someone who is no longer allowed to partake of fine beverage?
why-o-why do we pay taxes?!?!?
I might even give this a go. champagne is an overrated drink I fear; this might make it palatable.
Steve - brilliant idea!
Violet - I'd go for unscented if pushed otherwise I suspect the scent may affect the drink. It's hard to find decent scented roses isn't it? I refuse to have any other kind in my garden, nothing more disappointing than shoving one's beek into a rose and no resultant smell!!
Matty - I promise, next week there will be something for you!
Tenon- glad to help! I did enjoy this one, let me know what you think.
Saj--that lying on the floor comment...you wouldn't be talking about me by any chance?
I've noticed that you frequently use curacao in your concoctions. I've never experienced it. I read that it's orange flavoured. So why is it blue?
I used to be rather fond of Amaretto but haven't had it for years. Three friends and I once polished off an entire bottle in one sitting (nothing for you, I'm sure)and when we staggered out to catch the last bus home, I couldn't stop laughing uproariously as I couldn't seem to get my my foot up on that first step. Fortunately, I was young and attractive so the bus driver was very patient and didn't leave me lurching.
Oh dear oh dear oh dear ! I can see it was Tuesday again ! And Lynne is on the floor or lurching on public buses ! I really don't know what we're going to do with her, except invite her back for more champers...
I'm never against what they call a Royal Kir here, which is champagne with creme de cassis mixed in... this sounds a little like that, if that makes sense ? Well in anycase, have a nice tipple, just don't topple... ;-D
Louciao - I had a friend who was so pissed the driver wouldn't let her on the bus! How rude eh? However, to answer your question (cos thats the kind of gal I am) curacao is a sweet liquer made from wine or grape spirit, sugar and orange peel. It is available in orange, white and green and blue - mainly for colour options when drinking! May I suggest that if we are ever in the same drinking-space that we catch a taxi home?
Owen - I know, it's a sad thing but true. Luckily, I have a plan to get new livers for us both...meanwhile, Kir Royale we call that here and it has a fizzy blackcurrant taste, kind of like Ribena for adults!
Thankyou for the liver preservation thought. The rose petal can be the requiem.
Mmm sounds nice! Another Amanda recipe I'll have to try if I ever get the time! Hope all's well at your end!!
Saj, the only thing I fear with the taxi idea is that the driver may become inebriated from inhaling our combined boozy breaths!
Mmm! Can't wait. Kind of you to offer to drink it for me but I'll manage somehow...
Meggie - great idea!
OC - hello, m'lad! Great to have you here to the Tuesday Tipple and I see you've been off making me jealous over at yours.
Louciao - boozy breaths? Try saying that fast...
Selina - glad you made it over, I'm still trying out my repertoire for when I move into your street!!
