Tuesday Tipple

Now I don't think this is me, there are only 2 empty bottles so it can't be Decollete either!

However, today we're having this...........

French 75

15ml gin
15ml fresh lemon juice
15ml sugar syrup (I always have this ready in the fridge, it's easy to make and lasts for yonks if you don't use it!)
ice
chilled champagne

Pour the gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup and ice into a shaker. Shake shake shake then strain the liquid into a serving glass (one of those tall elegant champagne glasses) and top with chilled champagne. Garnish with a lemon twist and a red cherry.

Voila!

Ah! That might be me!! If it's not, it could well be after today's tipple. Gin AND champagne?? My two favourite drinks - I can't wait to put them together x

Hi Selena! I have to say it was a drink I approached with caution as I had a bad experience with gin a few years ago, however I really liked this so I'm sure you will. Hope you're getting thru the days ok.

Now that does sound like a lovely combo.

I got a gidt once. A cocktail making set and a book entitled, '1000 cocktails'

I got pissed after about six I think. Or was it seven. Hmmm, the ability to count was ceratinly impaired.

ha ha! Only 2 bottles so can't be me. Very funny. Perhaps I should jump on the litigation bandwagon and sue you...if only I could manage to get my foot up that high to clamber on without toppling over. hic!

I happen to have all the ingreds. in my fridge for this drink except the sugar syrup! Perhaps I'll wait for some other humans to be around before mixing up a batch, though. Oh what the hell, the day is young and I'm not!

AWB - good for you, do you use it much? After I did the course at the local Polytech I went all out too and got the set, the books, the hangovers....

Louciao - You should always keep a bottle of sugar syrup in your fridge! Hangovers 101.

Steve - I actually do have a cocktail waitress outfit....

Hi Amanda, too funny, it definitely wasn't me in drag or anything. And strange, I took a very similar photo just the other day, which I'll have to trot out for you, maybe tomorrow, as soon as I have a minute to do so. Just got back home after nearly three weeks away, hopefully will be back up to speed soon, I've missed you all... So, France is not the only place where drunks pass out on the streets ??? I think we'll have to check out the Maritime Provinces too, I've heard there are a few up that way too... And Steve has already told us about some of the charming things that happen on the streets around certain public buildings in the UK, fortunately without pictures...
Cheers !

Owen - ah the gulumphing hoilday maker returns! We've missed you too and have been wellbehaved in your absence I hope you note!

No I don't use it much. Too lazy.

I just pour what I think is about right straight into the glass.

I also, in the main, prefer the simpler combos.

Whisky and soda

Whisky and water.

Whisky

Wine (red mostly)

A cold beer when it's warm outside.

Hey
We make the French 76 and use vodka instead of gin. They are rather potent!

AWB - if you ever get over this way I suspect my husband will be able to easily lead you astray, you have the same taste in drinks!

Libby - hell and welcome, thanks for visiting. Another Sag, how wonderful, the world needs more Sagittarians!
