Matthew 1992 -2010
You die
and we write you letters
We tell you how completely
ferociously you were loved,
That even though we see the sun
And recall your smile,
We hear the rain
And the waves thundering to shore
And strain to hear your voice,
To look now is to see nothing of what was.
We talk to you again
And again
With no words tossed back
No whys or wherefores
Nothing for us to know
Except the emptiness
This silence of sorrow
And those damned ifs, buts, and maybes.
You die and all we can do
Is write you letters

A lovely poem. I understand the sense of loss and frustration completely. Thinking of you all.
A very powerful and well written poem, Sag.
Take care.
Sadness ought to be banned. Hugs from Weetabix-land.
Sob. Good words, so frustrating. Good song too.
Big hugs, Saggy.
That was an amazingly moving poem. I am not a poem person but that one spoke to me.
I don't know what words to offer, what comfort I could possibly dredge up for you. There are no words more meaningful than those you have written here.
Between reading and being able to respond, spend nearly an hour in the childrens room, as Stefan woke up and wouldn't wanna sleep again. Throwing me back and forth with emotions, yet it turned out that nothing would help, than to sit it out "whole hearted", leaving me in a rare, somewhat bleached state of mind. It's now close to 04.30 in the morning over here.
Am here, but have nothing to offer but silence, respectful silence...
There are some things that should never be. Parents burying their own young children, for one...
Thinking of you.
I know this heartbreak, helplessness, and senselessness too well myself and know there are no magic words of comfort I can offer. My prayers are offered...
Thanks very much, all of you. I truly appreciate your wonderful comments and care. xx
Lovely poem, sorry about the circumstances. I want to say it's on a par with "For Clare" but of course, no-one wants to lose anyone given the choice.
If you have any time to alleviate all of this, I've tagged you Amanda.
Lots of love and hugs,
Simon xx
Sagittarian, I am sorry for your trouble as we Irish say.
Amazing poem considering.
My thoughts are with you.
I don't know what the circumstances are, but I am sure you always did and tried your best by him.
Laura xx
