Moving on

I am exhausted by the aftershocks. They sneak up and rattle the bejesus outta ya and they're gone, kind of like a bad curry.

At the weekend I tried to dodge them, to no avail BUT I did find a few new places of interest....fixer-uppers if you will

and some old means of transport to get there!

Anyone want to tag along? Decorating ideas welcome, and a chocolate fish prize if you see me in the pix....

OR, those who may be traumatised by all the goings on in the world may prefer to mediatate, there is an option for those of you too!

So, who's going where?

Ah, memories of the great British car industry. It looks as good as new.An Austin 1100 I believe - what style, what grace, what rust.

i found you before i saw that i was not alone in my detective skills. do i have to share the chocolate? :^)

this is a super fun post, sag. i hope you are feeling mostly grounded even with all those rock and roll shakes.

Hey Saj ! Look like dream houses and dream cars to me...

Well, just don't eat any bad curry prior to an aftershock, the combination could be bad news.

Maybe the aftershocks are being caused by all the bad curry we've been feeding mother nature over the past century or so. Better pour some more bubbly down a fissure... and hope for calm.

So where was this place ?

Violet-Amazingly enough the old wrecks are still standing! They are a bit out of the way of the main shakes tho. Oh you haven't lived until you've had a chocolate fish from New Zealand!!

Marginalia- yep, and a mini...

Steve - there's always room on top for you Steve!

Pixie-haha, great word verification. Do you sometimes get the idea that WV knows us??

kj- well, as grounded as we can be, had a couple of aftershocks yesterday as usual, but overall we're on the up and up. It's the only way to go really, isn't it! :-) As for sharing the chocolate, depends on how fast you munch...

Owen-haha, got mental pictures of bubbly being poured fown a fissure...(thanks for that). This place is about 8 kms north of the city, it's on the way to the nearest shopping centre for us now that the 2 malls closest to where we live were munted. The area is called Marshlands, quite rural...laods of poncy houses on big sections (and of course the odd old house like these ones). Ideal for a family reunion I reckon, looks like the roads might be too rough for Lynne's bicycle cos I think she's late...

Bloody potholes! Teeth fell out yet again, biking over the bumps and ruts, and took me ages to find them. Any of those chocolate fish left? I may just go sit and nibble on one in the privacy of the meditation room and dream up some decorating ideas for these reunion huts. Any bubbly left over from the fissure pouring? (not from the fissure itself, mind).

I don't know how you can live with it. The price to pay for living in such a beautiful place as NZ maybe...

Hope your house is (relatively) back in order...

Has anyone been in the meditation room during an aftershock ?

Here's to you keeping your feet on the ground, no matter how much it keeps moving.

It’s alright for you rich and famous Kiwi types, oo can afford to buy stately country omes like this and travel back an forth when ever you like in yer own private Turdis’s.

Oh, and I spotted you in the pic by the way. Can clearly see your foot stickin up in the back window of your flash limo in the last pic. That’s a chocolate fish you owe me.

Isn’t it about time they stopped meditating and emptied that street portalongdrop? Looks like it’s about to fall over backwards.

Oh, I win a chocolate fish! I enbiggened every photo, and there you were reflected in the window in the third image down! I liked the dried floral arrangement in front... I didn't know you were in Pennsylvania with Owen... he found that same car!
