Honey, I'm home!

I'm back!
The above photo shows you that the earth really is red in Australia; this picture was taken in the Kingaroy region. We had a great time in this part of "Aussie" while we sampled nuts (oo er!) and wine and cheese!
This spider I am told is a Golden Orb...I am still fascinated by the web it constructed. It looked tough enough to catch low-flying aircraft, let alone anything smaller! I confess to having used the zoom to photograph it tho' and had my "flight" mode on high alert.
This kangaroo seemed more than happy to have his photo taken and I was able to stand almost next to it, there was an enclosure where about 15 'roos were lazing the day away for snap-happy tourists such as myself and even tho' this is about my 6th visit to Australia I love taking pix of these roos.

Got home to a garden looking like a jungle and the sunflowers with faces as big as dinner plates. Thankfully our wonderful neighbours had mowed the lawns in our absence. I started back at work today and am off travelling again in the morning, this time up to Hamilton and on to Te Aroha. Yippee.

Glad to hear you're home safely, Amanda, sounds like you had a wonderful time and I'm dead jealous. I've missed your "voice" on the bloggosphere!

Thanks, Steve, very nice for you to say so. I must confess to having blogged in haste and have other things I should have included (like, for example, my 11 yr old complaining of having a sore "foot wrist"...another new word in our house now for ankle!) Might be a two-part-job!

Hi Villager, it is good to be back! The roo is cute isn't he! (My husband had roasted 'roo for dinner later in the week, I guess he liked the look of it too!)

Good to see you back. There's plenty of time for more travel pics and stories as I'm sure you must have many...

Welcome back - and have a good trip! Apparently that spider has neurotoxic venom like the Black Widow's...which makes you a lot braver than me!

Welcome back - you got closer to that spider than I would have!

Oooh welcome back! I missed you loads.

Glad you had a great time despite the heat.

I can't wait - this time next week I'll be there (and jetlagged). Yippee!!

Enjoy your latest travels. xx

Glad you are home and glad you had a good time. I have to go to work next week for the fist time in over a year and I already want a vacation!

Violet- hi there. Yes, I've got a few photos to show but seem to be lacking in motivation!

Villager - sorry, it was and he did!

brother T - I'm glad I didn't know that when I took the photo! My mother-in-law tells me the web is still there but the spider has moved on.

Rol - I suspect that if I didn't have a good zoom lense, that photo wouldn't have been taken!

Meggie - Do you know, I have been cold this week for the first time in ages and I have to say I seem to be glad about it. You're right tho', there's no place like home.

RB - aw, thanks. It's nice to be missed. I know you're going to love your holiday! I have rellies where you're going and they have been telling me about their 40 degree days! Good luck.

Steve - I know, she's a funny wee thing but it is an accurate description!

Mike - Oh poor you!! I found it hard enought o go back to work after a month off, let alone a year. Hopefully you will find some way to make the day go faster....
