Tuesday Tipple

Hot Aphrodite

22ml ouzo
30ml Vandermint
22ml green creme de menthe
22ml fresh cream
ice

Pour all ingredients into shaker, shake then strain into serving glass. I'd use a nice old champagne saucer. I reckon half the fun is hearing that ice rattle about in the shaker, don't you?

I hope you like this music clip, once you get past the chitchat the song is an oldie and a goody!

A partial taste of Greece there with the ouzo, Sag !?

Indeed, Villager. It's a long way from here and sometimes I have to travel by bottle!

Vandermint?? Is that a mint-flavoured alcohol for the terribly rich? I do love the name of this concoction!

I have to admit to you, Saj, that I was introduced to a certain Mr. J. Daniels this weekend by a house guest who flew in from Tennessee. It was pretty much love and first sip and I am looking forward to a long and mellow relationship with JD, cooled slightly with one cube of ice. I'm a simple girl at heart.

My wv: datchoo. As in, "Datchoo, Saj or is it Hot Aphrodite knockin' on my door?"

Ouzo? The rough stuff or the not so rough stuff?

Louciao - I don't think you have to be rich..its one of my Mum's favourite liqueurs, and she's not famous for splashing out with dosh!

Steve - I suspect it would depend on what you'd had before trying this one! :-)

I just love Tom Waits, and this is one I hadn't heard. Hysterical! I used the lyrics of his "The Bird and the Fish" in one of my posts.

Margaret - yes, Tom is an oldie but a goodie and that particular track is so much fun!

Hey Amanda, I'm 'ere ! Better late than never, eh... ? So where's my drink ??? Or did Lynne get all the Aphrodites ??? Oh jeez, I can see I have to get a faster means of transportation, the team of snails that has been pulling my wagon may be getting old and tired. And do any hot aphrodisiacs come with the Hot Aphrodite ? I guess better a Hot Aphrodite than a Herm Aphrodite Surprise ? Oh boy, I don't think it's the piano that's been drinking... love Tom Waits by the way, perhaps An Invitation to the Blues may be about my favorite from him... I wonder if he is really like the appearance in this video, or if that was an act??? What a character...

Hi Owen, I think there is a small amount of grog left if you feel like squeezing it out of the bar mat...ah, Tom Waits, I have wondered about that too. Imagine him as your dad or something!!
