Tuesday Tipple

For those of you having trouble getting your champers open from last week, you could visit here and see if that helps.

While you're off doing that, I'll mix up a tipple for this week.

Mojito

4 large, fresh mint leaves, torn
1 tablespoon palm sugar
1 lime, cut into quarters (or '4's for the Americans)
60ml Bacardi (or real Cuban rum if you've been thru Duty free lately)
1 cup ice
soda water

Place mint and palm sugar a mortar and 'muddle' - this is fun. If you don't have a muddler, try a shaker and crush lightly with the back of a spoon.  Transfer the muddle mix to the shaker, add the lime, Bacardi and ice and shake. Pour into a highball glass (do not strain out the ice) and top with cold soda water, and sprig of mint.

Kick back in the hammock and enjoy! This is one of my favourite drinks for a hot sunny day (which we haven't got yet, but I'm dreaming...) and this is a song that we also enjoy down this way! In fact, when we went to their concert they played this song and the crowd went nuts!

Ooh, I'm the first with the thirst! Thanks for those handy How To videos, Saj. Definitely some useful pointers in the muddling one (!!) As for the sword opener, I think I can handle step #9: Pour.

Nice quality music vid. Goes well with the tipple. May I have another? I need it to make my eyes cross so that I can sing along better. That's what they're sing about, isn't it?

My WV is "oidel" which is the Jewish form of yodelling.

Saj--you missed my sailor man over at Décolleté. He's feeling hard... done by!

Louciao - yay, being first means you don't get the dregs of the mint!! I always enjoy CSN, esp young Mr Nash prancing about barefoot, fair shivers me timbers that does!
And speaking of which, I went over to find your Sailor man who wasn't there when I visited a few minutes ago...

Hey, this if fun that we get to have a little private conversation before the other rowdies (Owen) show up! We have a large mint patch out in the yard if you run short, BTW.

My WV is "sessi": as in, Mr. Nash does, indeed, look very "sessi" prancing around in his bare feet.

Indeedy! PLus there is more Mojito to go round before other dipsomaniacs show up! However, the more the merrier. My WV - phtsuc...as in "foot suck?" hm, I'll check with Ms Ferguson to see how that one goes...

Corr I'm thirsty...
And I see someone stole the boots off Graham Nash's feet, so no wonder he's barefoot too... Great song there. If you go way back to my posts a year ago, towards the end of October, or early November, there are some photos of Stephen Still which you can compare to the much younger gentleman in the video you posted...

Oh you two, oideling away there between sessions of phtsuc... I fear the worst, especially after you get a few of those sabered champagne bottles in you, washed down by these minty lime rum contraptions... could be trouble. I like the "Fire" step where the saber slides just so down the bottle's crease, and pop goes the weasel. I was wondering how five comments would have showed up so fast here, I should have guessed the heavy drinking was already underway. Sheesh, if this is how things go through cyberspace, I'd hate to see you to actually get together in a bar !

And my WV is "Scodstme", as in, "scodstme, I cain't foind me carh keys, must have dropped them in the toilet there while driving the porcelain bus !"

and of course that's meant to read "you two" and not "you to", am already seeing double and leaving out double u's...

Ah, it's Sir Dipso, Sir Rowdy and their alter-ego Owen of Round Foot. How ye be?
Actually, interesting you should make that note of her and I in a bar for real, that is something that I have considered and not sure how my liver would handle it! We would certainly have to make sure there was no access to a PC!!
Young Stephen certainly looks a tad older these days eh? Obviously he doesn't drink enough...

Really need this today... the young 'un has been up and about exploring since 5am... it's been a long day already and it's now only 6.32am...

Fantastic. Looking forward to this, especially as it gives me something to do with all the mint that seems to have gone slightly manic in my garden.
Do me a favour though - stop going on about long sunny days, it's too depressing. In fact, I'll have to make up enough for of this for a good few glasses ......

Steve - oh dear, I can't say that I really miss those days! Mind you, my older brother's daughter is 15 and being a terrible handful so maybe there is something to be said for Bonsai-ing one's offspring!

Selina - ah, you have loads of mint? I AM moving to your street, hope you have a lemon tree too? Our days aren't sunny yet, but we have just gone to daylight saving so it's on its way!!

Ah Saj. Perhaps it's best if we never meet in 3-dimensional life. I am more of a virtual sot than an actual drunk. Or maybe that's a good thing because then you won't have to worry about your liver. But if we did get together, can't you just picture us sitting side by side on barstools typing each other messages and chortling away.

Don't get me wrong though--I am keen to drink, but my capacity is not large!

Louciao - Actually, we would probably be sitting by the fire, knitting or hooking, in our slippers sipping cocoa talking about the good old days (when we weren't so good and we weren't so old!) while Owen being the good boy scout he is keeps the fire going!

Well, maybe a wee shot of cognac in the hot chocolate wouldn't hurt. ;-)

Oh OK, you twisted my arm...
