Playing with photos

I took this photo of a beautiful antique Kauri mirror, in an old house we had some training courses in. The house was built in 1853 and we have our courses here every year. It's an ornate old lady, wonderful carving through out...

Down the road further, closer to Palmerston North, I found this wee treasure complete with sheep - typical?

And every family plays word games, right? My two kidlets like playing their word games in the dark, armed with Sparklers instead of a dictionary - but they can spell anyway it would seem!!

I have had a quiet day, having been away form home so much it's been nice to reconnect (albeit with the ironing and the dishes and the washing up...and let's not even mention the squabbling siblings!)

I have a book I have been reading during the aeroplane rides, "Live working or die fighting" , how the working class went global-by Paul Mason. It's a great history treat for those of you who may be interested in where your employment conditions and rights and expectancies come from!

However, I find that I can't actually read a book at the momnent unless I'm on a plane - is that odd?

Love the mirror pic... but surely the woman in the photo is not the "ornate old lady" of which you speak...?!

Oh I love that mirror pic too. Wonderful.

I can only read in the bath! Everywhere else I get distracted and can't concentrate.

sag, this is great! your photo skills are great! i can't believe or even figure out how you got that shot of the kids with their sparklers. i am most envious!!

it is a little treat to see you in the mirror (that's her, steve, i'm quite sure!).

I do like that self-portrait of you, so beautifully framed, both in the 3-D sense (mirror frame) and the pixelated way (special FX). The house with sheep is an exciting find! I can see sitting out on the porch, knitting cardis straight from the backs of the grazing sheep as they provide the yard maintenance.

At least with your kids' sparkling spelling bee they had only enough time to write 3-letter words rather than the more common (in every sense of the word) 4!

RB- thanks! Reading in the bath is something I have never been able to do!!

kj- I only wish I was as ornate as the old lady house! Thanks for your kind comments, the sparklers photo was mainly created that way so that I could protect my kids faces from publication...

Louciao-you know, that would be fun wouldn't it! My mum once was part of a team who did just that - they had a fleece, and basically created a garment from start to finish in front of a crowd. She's very clever is my mum. And yes, am glad the sparklres ran out when they did...

Violet-haha, I never thought of that! Thanks for the warning. :-)

Everytime I take a plain to reach back home, return with a small bag of books - believe me, that I so understand the "reading on a plane".
Over here, during daylight it is mostly the storybooks of my son which take me away. Brilliant spelling photography. Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday.
p.s.: it would be wonderful to learn whether the biography is on sale in your neck of the woods.
