Liquefaction Reflection

My life reflected in a puddle of liquefaction mud...leaves from the Japanese Maple tree lye discarded after a beautiful rosy display, scattered by wind and quakes....
It's actually quite tricky to find beauty in our terrorised city at the moment, I'm sure it is out there but we have to travel past so many fractured houses and roads to do simple everyday things - some days I feel quite ground down by it. But then we get sights like these...

liquefaction puddles on the tennis courts over the back fence from our house reflect the sunset of volcanic ash from Chile's eruption woes....

with the scribbly trees also on display in reflective liquefaction puddles.
Such is the power of nature - beauty and terror together.
At least we know who is in charge!

So what's the deal with all the liquefaction ??? Is water coming up out of the ground from broken water mains ? Or something else going on ? I keep thinking it's got to stop, and get back to normal, and then we hear about more shaking going on... enough's enough already... (You hear that Mom Nature ???)

Browen, if you follow the link on the word liquefaction it will tell you more than you want to know! It's grubby stuff and no mistake (but not THAT sort of grubby...) No broken pipes, just liquefied soil and it's bad enough when it's wet, when it dries out it is just as nasty. I'd scoot back to the races if I was you...

Guess it proves that Nature just cannot be tamed or contained... but while we can see beauty in it we can exert a little control...

Congratulations on finding beauty amid the chaos. Stay safe, Sag.

Beautiful pics. Great attitude :)

PS am Pixie's friend, your trans-tasman lurker. Have been keeping an eye on your updates through this stupidly difficult time.

Finding beauty in the essentially unbeautiful is a reflection of your beautiful spirit, Saj.

Yes, I heard that Christchurch had two more earthquakes! Thank God that you're (relatively) ok.
The reflections are beautiful, and I was happy to see them from you. xo

AOF-hello, you! I love your Food Nazi stuff! Thanks for visiting, and yes it is a stupidly difficult time. Not over yet I reckon.

Louciao-aw, you're so sweet to me.
:-)

BrOwen - well we got plenty of that stuff, so you feel free to hop down here and wallow your warts off!

Margaret-yes two buiggies in one day and then earlier this week we had another biggie...it's exhausting but it's our way of life now. Great to have to drop by. :-)

You are opening my eyes to the reality of living in an earthquake zones.

It definitely ain't over 'till it's over, is it.

Great, and unusual, photo of reflections.

Yep, him upstairs has certainly socked it to you NZ'ers.

Though sometimes it feels like our government is trying to do his wrathful work over here, albeit with societal structure rather than material structure.

Amazing pictures.
