The Doldrums

Even the river is in the Doldrums...water warmer than the rest of us. It does look magical tho' doesn't it? Hobbits anyone?
Further round the bend the Avon River is clear and still with just a hint of mist...crikey, you could almost drink it if it wasn't for the duck poo and rubbish thrown in by careless citizens!
And here is our front lawn. Nice isn't it? I think the mix of mud, ice and snow really works!

I can't garden, I can't even settle to read a book even tho' I have two to read. Why? It's this place The Doldrums. They sound much more exotic than they really are. They sound like you need to have your sunblock ready, champagne at hand and a relaxed attitude but in fact The Doldrums are nervewracking and annoyingly grey.

Anyone else been there?

What did you pack?

Worse thing I ever did was to buy a timeshare in The Doldrums...

Pack a chenille throw, and a very good book. have someone else wait on you until it is over, or you finish the book. Best to make it 300+ pager.

Been there often.
My poison is self medication in the form of alcohol. Everything turns almost rosy.

Of course, that is quite against all advice....

It's summer here but that isn't going to last much longer. Our doldrums start just after Christmas and last until at least March. Sometimes April.

Steve, have just read your blog and I know what you mean!!

Violet - I like chenille. Am currently knitting a friend a chenille throw!

Meggie - oooh, now you're talking! I'll just sidle over and have a wee wine. Oh and look, here come's Mike! Now there's a surprise, I'm sure he can smell the top off a bottle at a hundred or so miles! (Hi Mike)

Lovely pics of The Doldrums - never realised you could photograph them!
