Election Day

We're not allowed to talk up any particular Political party on Election Day...so I'll leave this here instead and you can work it out for yourselves which way I hope it all goes over here tonight.

Sounds as though you'd better keep crossing your fingers; maybe the urban votes will turn it round for you. Loved the Rita Macneil song. I've been down slate and tin mines, but it was going down a working pit in Spennymoor, County Durham, that really opened my eyes to the conditions underground.

BT - I fear we are doomed. That Rita song is one I regularly drag out "fater a few", but it was also played at a funeral a few years back. there was a pickjet line here and an angry Joe Nobody drove his car into the crowd and killed one of the protesters. They played the song at her funeral. I love the song. But then again, I work for a Union and I live for my job.

Amanda, I fear it is all gone to pot- both types.
BB was careful to cast his vote before he left us, but alas, to no avail I fear.

It's no consolation, but sometimes things seem to have to hit rock bottom before they can start heading back up again.

If not this time then maybe next time.

Meggie and Mike - sadly while the rest of the world has "seen the light' the Kiwi voter has taken a step backwards. Prepare for the wholesale sale of our country.

Sounds like it's bad news, Amanda - I have to say I'm quite ignorant of the elections occurring in your country so don't feel able to comment.

Steve, the guys are of the same ilk as Maggie Thatcher. I think you understand that?

Not Maggie Thatcher ! The embodiment of true evil...

Oh gosh that does sound bad. How awful.

I loved the track and the video.

One of my earlier memories is of watching an episode of Blue Peter about miners and about how they used those birds to see if the air was clean or not. I think they did a recreation of an accident which had occurred or something - anyway, it left a lasting impression. . .

as did Margaret Thatcher!

I understand and commiserate.

Villager - wise words and very accurate. This crowd are talking about having a proabtionary employment period of 3 months, no collective bargaining, and no Personal grievance rights unless you have ben employed for a minimum period of 6 months!

RB - yep, spot on. The ol' canary would die if there was gas thus giving workers a sprinters chance in hell!

Steve - thought you would!
