Thirsty Thursday

The grapes got their revenge on me and I missed the Tipple on Tuesday (should have missed the tipple on Monday shouldn't I!! - still, old enough to know better and young enough to do it anyway)...so, if you're thirsty this Thursday here's what I'm having:-

Poinsotta

20ml cointreau
40ml cranberry juice
sparkling wine or champers

Pour Cointreau and juice into a champagne flute and top with sparkling wine (or champers).

Now, I'd advise you to quaff this with a good ol' friend, which is what I'm going to do. My friend of a long time (she hates being referred to as an old friend) is jetting in from Sydney this arvo (see, I speak Aussie) and we're going to have a good old fashioned catch up! I can't wait. And when we have polished off the Poinsotta we will probably get into some red wine...

I picked up 'arvo' when I was travelling in Oz 20 years ago, and I have never been able to let it go, love it.

As long as you're not getting any aggro, all's good.

Ah that's more like it! I'm going to enjoy that tonight. You like your cointreau don't you. Which is fortunate as .... so do I!!!

And here's me thinking a Poinsotta
was a plant with pretty red leaves...!

Could be a dangerous combination, Sag.....cocktails and red wine !

the biggest poinsettas I ever saw were growing wild in AUS.
have fun, you young 'uns.

shopping list: add cointreau.

haha yes like Steve I misunderstood there. I read your para at the moment and wondered why you were going to eat the Poinsetta before starting on the red wine. Thought you had gone vegetarian.

Then I read the tipple recipe and all was clear.

And I am sober, honest. It's only lunchtime.

Hope you have fun with your mate this arvo.

So how was your hangover?

kj - set your friend round and I'm sure we'll all have a great time!

Owen - you will be pleased to know that my decorum was wonderful as usual!

Selina - ok, so the duty free order will always be a large Cointreau!

Steve - ha, I wondered when that would happen. I thought that when I fisrt read the recipe too!

Villager - NOW you tell me!

Violet - I saw a huge display in a shop once, literally took up 2 floors!

RB -Of COURSE you're sober!

AWB- ooh, actually, wasn't too bad. My poor mate got what we politely refer to as 'the trots' and was slow oputta her straps!
