Gearing up to New Zealand Music Month

I am listening a fair bit to this group at the moment, a good Kiwi band!

The Phoenix Foundation's "Pot" is a good sound, I like this one very much...tell me what you think!

I think the note at the top of the sheet music which gives instructions on how to play would say something like "Brightly"... it's bright and upbeat... They could be the opening act for Jackson perhaps ?

That was fun! Had me rockin' in my office chair all right. I like the layered sound. I'd definitely turn it up if it came on the radio. It'd be a fun song to trip out to on my MP3 player while laying in bed at night (a recently discovered treat to indulge in when going through a bout of insomnia). In ancient times when I was a teenager, I'd listen to my transistor radio tucked under my pillow into the wee hours of a school night.

I like Owen's idea of them being the opening act for Jackson at our hotel. How are the negotiations coming along for that, anyway?

Nice of you to shara Kiwi tune with us.

Hello lovely siblings! Owen, great idea but am ever so grumpy with Mr B's lack of appearance so he may well have to open for them!

Louciao- I have had the sound in my wee head all day! Funny that you would have your radio under your pillow as I did that too! However, it was rather big and gave me a crook neck sometimes as I'd fall asleep listening and wake up in the wee hours in agony! The hotel is coming along BUT have another 2 weeks away shortly so am not going to finalise anything until I have checked the whole country!

Sounds like a great month of music; I would like to experience the natural wonders of New Zealand one day.

Yeah, I like this. Amazing to think that the only thing that keeps me in touch with new music is blogging!

Villager - our last Government put in a quota system for NZ music which had the spin off effect of the music month, it's great fun and we get to hear stuff that we probably wouldn't have otherwise! Let me know if you ever make it down here.

Steve - ditto! Mind you, with the quota system that I mentioned above we now have greater access to our own homegrown stuff - TV and radio have to play certain amounts of Kiwi talent. Initially there was a collective groan from the country - surely if it was worth listening to we would have heard it? However I have to say, there is quite a bit of talent here really and it's been a good thing.

Villager- any start is a start!

Your musical taste is excellent!

I will just whisper this.. I have always found Kiwi music superior to the Oz variety! Am sure they do too, which is why the keep claiming our Kiwis as their own.

From the little bit of your neck the profile photo reveals, it doesn't look too crooked, so hopefully the radio under the pillow did no permanent damage... so let's pull another bottle out of the wine rack, and celebrate with some upbeat music, dancing under a full moon... on the terrace of the hotel...

Meggie - thank you ma'am! Yes those Aussies are always trying to steal our stuff (no offence to any Aussie's who may be reading this, it's all good fun!)

Owen- sounds like fun to me, dancin' on the deck...without a crooked neck....
