New beginnings

From the gnarly trees and grey skies who have been exposing themselves for the past month or so, to the cheeky blossoms and blue skies beginning to appear....

To the daffodils who are beginning to shout and wave from the garden beds...

and to the wild roadside poppies.....

Nature has truly started her new beginnings!

What? You've already done winter??? Did I blink and miss it? Not that I begrudge you spring--I'm just stunned that it's already blooming on your doorstep. I mean, there was a bit of ice and grey skies over a period of maybe 2 months and that was what you call winter? I'm definitely looking into emigrating to New Zealand!

PS. Nina Simone--yeah, baby!

I love that crazy, gnarled, twisted tree! I don't know much about New Zealand but now I'm so curious to find out more. I envy all those beautifully colorful blossoms. Really gives one the sense of life's steady rhythms and regeneration. Helps to make sense of it all. Enjoy!

Oh no, here we got again. The end of your winter heralds the start of ours and I'm not ready yet - we haven't had enough sun ......

I'm with Selina (figuratively speaking that is - the court injunction keeps me 5 miles away at all times). Our Winter has already started even though technically it is still summer here. Torrential rain and blustery winds. We even turned our gas fire on last night.

Spruce that rabbit hutch up please - I'm on my way.

I love winter. I can't wait for dark days and even darker nights. Coal fires and hot toddies, cats on laps and reasonable TV.

You wouldn't believe from the comments but we Brits were formed out of damp, chilly nights and muddy lanes.

Poor you. All you've got to look forward to is sun, sun, sun. So boring!

Striking profile. Just like her voice, her life and her loves.

Lovely piccies. And I had forgotten how much Nina Simone resembled Queen Nefertiti
