Friday

Our local Art Centre is made up of old buildings and this rather charming bird bath. Well, it is meant ot be a decorative pool really but more often than not you see the seagulls and sparrows splashing about or just cruising the surface. I think it's really pretty, don't you?

When we traveled down South for the Oyster festival, we went past this honesty box selling Southland Swedes. They taste best boiled up then mashed with lots of pepper and butter. How do you like your Swedes? (Keep it seemly, Louciao and http://magiclanternshowen.blogspot.com/Owen) This is me, one or two years back, about to throw a snow ball at the photographer. I had a mean left chuck! I have had a good week, thought you'd all like to know that. And guess what, the sun is shining. I have seen Blue Sky all day. I am truly blessed.
AND LOOK WHATELSE! Blogger let me add a music clip. Oh, and the earthquake wasn't bad enough to spill any of my drinks, thanks for asking!

I like my Swedes in spangly costumes and platform boots singing Dancing Queen...!

Love the caravan in the back of the photo... it looks like it has just limped into shot.

Steve - that caravan stalked my family for years, always trying to get into our photos and stuff...

haha at Steve.

That Art Centre is lovely. I really must get round to organising a visit to NZ. I presume I can come and see you if I do????

I have a photo of me somewhere in just the same pose as you with the snowball at about the same age.

Have a lovely weekend. I am going to try and make those drinks tonight.

RB - if you EVER get here and don't tell me, I shall do a 'caravan' number on you! yes you must come and visit. I am practising the drinks as we speak...(and my WV for this "revive")

swedes are - turnips? rutabaga? I like them off the plate, thank you very much.

The photo of the art gallery is great with the angle of the pool and the reflection. Very professional. It should perhaps be in the gallery itself. Or on the brochure.

right - it is rutabaga.
definitely off the plate, then.

Your Art Centre looks great, Sag - almost Moroccan, with that pool.

That looks a lovely art space. I wanna play there!

You must have been thrilled to find a whole box of swollen hard heads; Swedish ones, no less! And I have no idea what you're insinuating about me. Seems more like you and Owen are the ones to keep an eye on.

My personal chef, Pierre, likes to make something called "mioche" with turnips, potatoes, & carrots. He boils them all up together with garlic cloves, salt & a bay leaf; removes leaf, drains veggies, adds butter & milk as needed and mashes it all up. Mashed potatoes with pizzazz!

INXS...I only caught up with them when they were on the hunt for a new front man on the TV series "So You Wanna Be a Rock Star." I admit, I was shamelessly addicted to the program! A Canadian won the competiton, toured with them, and was summarily dumped 23 months later at the Singapore airport. Got the golden handshake, "So long mate." Subsequent reports had him back living in his car. I guess that's show biz.

Violet - aw, thanks for the kind words. I do love going to our Art Centre, they often have bands or theatre happening as well as food stalls and shops for crafts etc.

Villager - It does doesn't it!

Louciao - oooh, a "personal" chef! Does he also your griddle? I like the sound of those pizazz spuds.
This Art Centre also has a Fudge Cottage, very yummy fudge indeed. I am useless at making that stuff but have mastered the art of scoffing it. I heard that about the frontman for INXS - they also had an Aussie try out for the band but he didn't get there. I heard that the new guy couldn't keep off the drugs and thats why he was dumped? He was very cute tho' and I was addicted to watching the Lab Rat TV as well. Cheers!

I like my Swedes blonde and blue-eyed! (and never boiled) You're terrible, Sag! And you were such an adorable little girl, but I can see the devil in you then!! Your Art Centre is stunning. It reminds me of some of the exquisite ancient bathing places in Bath, England. Are you in the Southern Hemisphere? I put you on my blog (with a ?) about a constellation in the Southern Hemisphere, knowing that only parts of New Zealand are in the Southern Hemisphere. And I would love to know how you got Blogger to play music!! Wonderful!

I had a language glitch for a moment regarding the use of the word "scoffing"--as in inhaling something whole, as opposed to mocking it. I'm talking about fudge here! What did you think I meant? Surely not the Swedes! I thought, why would the woman want to mock fudge?

Pierre's my all-purpose handyman. Father of our only child (grown) so he not only handles my griddle, he handles my girdle. Just a figure of speech (pardon the pun)--I don't actually wear one. Girdle or griddle.

The Canadian interviews with the poor booted off one-time INXS guy failed to mention the drugs part of the equation! The Aussie guy should have got the gig. He was super talented. Maybe too much so.

Lab Rat TV is perfect to sit and scoff fudge while watching. Fudge goes well with wine, you know. Dry red.

Dear Amanda, Personally, I like my Swedes in miniskirts, or even better, out of them... but that was in another life long ago and far away... well, one can still dream a little now and then, wot ???

Now it's just watching movies like Mamma Mia that does it...

So, for the bird bath, is swimming allowed in there, looks like a full size pool !?! Maybe a few sweet swedes in bathing suits would complete the photo ?

As for Louciao, I see she's being naughty again !!! And she pretends to be so innocent !!!

Well, ok, let it rip with the snowball...

That photo of the pool is striking.

Love the blueness of the pool contrasted against the monochrome wintry feel of the rest.

Margaret - hi there. All of New Zealand is in the Southern Hemisphere, I think you may be getting mixed up with our North Island and South Island. I am in the South island - very original names for our Islands eh?
As for getting Blogger to play music you really need to have your mouth st the right setting! I used to have no problem adding music clips but then Blogger decided it wouldn't do it for me, I haven't done anything different this time so it's anyone's guess how it happened! That snowball should have been aimed at Blogger perhaps?!

Louciao - haha, too funny! The thing with red wine quaffing and fudge scoffing is that you can't really do them both at the same time...which cuts down on the time you can spend either eating fudge or drinking. Such a dilema!

Owen - Good to see you here again, and almost behaving yourself too! :-) We had a very hard frost here this morning but still no snow.

AWB - Thanks, it is one of my favourite photos too. I did a "series" on the Art Centre recently so may yet bore you all with those. We had sun, oh yes we did!

I still get homesick for places in Christchurch, even though it was my second 'home'.
Loves me some southland swedes that have had a good frosting. Mashed with butter & pepper, yep!

The Sagittarian said...

Meggie - yes, when I lived away from Christchurch I still longed to move back here! Yep, those swedes have gotta have been 'frosted' before eating!
