I'm so sorry, Saj. Tony is out of his pain now, and his soul is still with us in some way. My sympathy to you and your family and his family. Hugs, Saj.
When you're feeling up to it, maybe give this a listen . . .

I know you rider, gonna miss me when I'm gone I know you rider, gonna miss me when I'm gone Gonna miss your baby, from rolling in your arms
Lay down last night, Lord, I could not take my rest Lay down last night, Lord, I could not take my rest My mind was wandering like the wild geese in the West
The sun will shine in my back door some day The sun will shine in my back door some day March winds will blow all my troubles away
I wish I was a headlight on a north-bound train I wish I was a headlight on a north-bound train I'd shine my light through the cool Colorado rain
I know you rider, gonna miss me when I'm gone I know you rider, gonna miss me when I'm gone Gonna miss your baby, from rolling in your arms

And the rest of us must carry on... Peace to you...
So sorry to hear your news, Saggy. It is so hard to handle when someone is taken so suddenly.
I did listen to the song and it was rather moving but I couldn't help thinking that at the beginning of the video the singer looked a little like Delia Smith which felt a bit odd! Kept expecting to pull out a flan or something.
Thanks so much for all your kind words everyone. Have been away with work again, and the funeral is tomorrow. I'm going to find a nice cocktail for the tipple, in Tony's memory. RB - uncanny, but I can see what you mean! Thanks, Owen.
Sorry to hear it Sagittarian - I am currently worrying over a good friend with breast cancer, though at least her prognosis is reasonably promising, touch wood.
I hope you take comfort in knowing that he is still with you in some form, supporting you, and reading this blog over your shoulder, and smiling... let us know some of your favouite memories when you get a moment, it would be lovely for us to share. Take care

Some comforting rays of sunshine, at least. Be gentle with yourself.

So sorry to hear about your friend.
Sounds like an emotional week you've had.
rb - that is interesting about the Delia Smith look-a-like - did you know her name is Cookie Rankin?
Sorry to hear of your loss.
I have a friend in the end stages right now, it's a terrible place.
Thoughts with you.
