The case of the dying great men!

Hone Tuwhare . Died 17 January 2008. Quite an extraordinary bloke, inspirational. We are very lucky in New Zealand to have so many wonderfully talented creative people - I think today I will try and celebrate those I know and those who have yet to come to my attention!
I love a good read and enjoy a bit of writing myself, something my eldest daughter has also tapped into (she had a poem published aged 10 while doing a creative writing course here). I find it hard work, therapeutic, frustrating and enormously satisfying all in one.
I hope you enjoy reading through some of Hone Tuwhare's work via the link. RIP.

Is he Maori? (I haven't actually checked out the link - lazy boy that I am...)

Am I right in saying that "hone" is the word for the Maori kiss - rubbing noses?

You are welcome, Steve, I try to enlighten people when I can - its not really such a great burden once you get used to it! (LOL)
Hi OC, yes he is Maori. The word you are confusing is "hongi" - which means what you say it does. Winter not a good time for those!!

haha no I never thought of that before - rubbing snotty noses does not sound at all romantic.

Sorry - I am not feeling intellectual today so can't think of anything wise and profound to say. Snot is about all I can manage!
